All India Test & Evaluation Series (TAE)
All India Test & Discussion Series (TAD)
This course in the month of August and continues till the IIT-JEE/AEEE entrance examination.
It is especially designed for those students who have a
thorough understanding of the subject and are in the habit of putting in
self-effort, and all they need is except guidance to solve their difficulties.
They can improve upon themselves by taking the large number of practice tests on
the pattern of Medical Entrance Examination in this course. There will be no
teaching of syllabus in this course as it usually done in other course. The
students will study the course topics themselves and shall come prepared for the
test and the discussion thereafter as per the schedule provided to the student
at the time of enrolment. The schedule of this course continues till April/May.
This test and Discussion course will be conducted in 3 parts i.e., Series –A,
Series –B & Series –C. All the three series are uniquely designed with some
distinctive features in each of them.
Series-A : Designed To Help You Identify “What You Do Not Know” And Not What You Know
‘A’ series consist of 21 tests. In it, the whole course is divided into seventeen tests. After every three tests there will be a comprehensive test comprising of the syllabi covered in the three tests so as to enable you to test your power of retention. This test will be of subjective type.
The following steps may be followed while preparing for “A” series. Since this series has been designed to help you identify “what you do not know” and not what you know, so even fi the marks scored are not upto your satisfaction don’t get discouraged.
Try to find out the reasons by asking the following questions to yourself –
1. Whether your coverage of the topic is proper or not Or whether you could not apply the concept at the time of examination. If your memory based questions are wrong (i.e. direct questions) it means your preparation for the coverage of the topic is poor and naturally you would not be able to do application based questions also due to the poor coverage of this syllabus.
2. If your application based questions are wrong then it implies that you could not apply the concept at the time of examination hence you need more practice. So make it a point to attempt a set o 50 questions in the stipulated time from those particular topics, at home, or come one hour before the class, sit in the library and ask the counselor for a set o fifty questions.
3. If you could solve the questions on your own, after examination, this means you know the content but lack practice. Thus you need more practice.
4. If you know but got confused, them do the basic concepts again and try to find out why did you go wrong.
5. If you could not solve even after the examination then revise the basic concepts again and practice more problems of similar type.
Series-B : Designed To Give You The “Practice To Check Your Wrongs.”
In this series the whole course has been divided into eight parts. After every two objective tests there is one subjective test. In this series you should see
1. that you are in a position to solve 80% of the paper
2. that “wrongs” are not more than 10%
3. that you are in the habit of leaving some questions. No one can attempt 100% paper successfully at the competitive exam levels, so do not have the habit of attempting all the questions at the competitive stage. It can prove to be harmful.
4. analyze the performance after the test by asking yourself where did you go wrong and what are the areas of improvement. Identify your weakness and strengths so that you can work upon your weaknesses before you take the next series.
Series – C : Based on all the three types of questions – memory, comprehension and application.
Through a series of 15 tests (four part tests & 11 complete tests) you will be practicing the tests covering the whole syllabus. This will increase your retention and give you the required confidence. By this time you would have prepared so much that the content you know is more than sufficient for your selection. The only thing that you may be lacking is the confidence in yourself. During this time you must bear the following points in mind-
1. Devote more and more time in testing and line-tuning your final strategy.
2. Devote 15 minutes less than the time allotted for the mock tests given to you to be solved at home.
3. Recollect your rapid review notes
4. Be firm on improving time and strike rate
5. Work on your weak areas so as to perform better in the next test
6. Study 10 to 12 hours per day (Concentrated Study)
7. Spend more and more time in revising
8. Do not try studying new material. Focus on whatever you have already studied. This is not the time for learning new topics.
9. Avoid any activity that may cause anxiety. Confidence and faith in oneself helps a person perform better.
